Jacob Rees-Mogg in furious Climate Change clash with LBC Caller – ‘That’s just rubbish!’ – News 247


 Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg spoke to LBC host Nick Ferrari on a phone-in show, answering questions from the public However, at one point, a fiery clash broke out between Mr Rees-Mogg and a caller Ben from Golders Green in London accused the Leader of the House of Commons of being a climate change denier  He asked: “How do you reconcile being a climate change denier with your very strong Catholic views? “Given what the Pope has said about climate change being the most important threat facing humanity and something that will risk the lives of billions of the poorest people on earth ” Earlier this year, Pope Francis declared a global “climate emergency”, urging politicians to take “drastic measures”  He warned that a failure to act urgently to reduce greenhouse gases would be “a brutal act of injustice toward the poor and future generations”   Mr Rees-Mogg slapped down the accusation: “I’m not a climate change denier so the premise of your question falls ” Ben tried to justify his claim: “Well, in 2017, I saw you gave several speeches with the Global Warming Policy Foundation who are an institution who won’t disclose their funding  “You’re known for denying man-made climate change and are affiliated with this institution ” The Global Warming Policy Foundation is a lobby group whose stated aims are to challenge “extremely damaging and harmful” Government policies to tackle global warming  Mr Rees-Mogg appeared confused at the information, and denied any connection to the group  He said: “Ben, I think you’re inventing all of this, unfortunately. “I speak to lots of organisations ”  Trending  The Tory MP continued: “Certainly I haven’t made a number of speeches for this one  “I’m unaware of ever having spoken to them or having particularly heard of them. “So I don’t actually know what you’re talking about  “And I’m not sure you do either. “I’m not on the payroll either, that’s just rubbish ”
