We all experience the water environment around
us, we see more and more floods we have more heat waves and droughts and we hear about
how the use of fertilisers impacts the water quality in our rivers. The water theme within Bristol brings together
people to address water issues from local to global scale. This means water of sufficient
quality for the safe existence of people and nature. I am a hydrologist working on developing computer
models that help us to manage the water cycle under extreme conditions like floods and droughts. It’s impossible to solve problems by looking
at the problem in isolation. Cabot is enabling us to act as a much larger community and to
understand what tomorrow’s world might be like.
