A lot of my work is sit and wait. You anticipate the moment, you frame it and then when it’s there you shoot. And that’s what happened with this one. I was on safari in Kenya.
Our guide took us to this amazing spot and there just happened to be a few antelope
crossing over this incredible sunrise. Any situation where you don’t
want to be super disruptive, shooting on silent is a huge benefit of shooting on Sony. I used my Sony a7R III and the 100-400mm F4.5-5.6. I had it on manual focus to make sure
that I was sharp on the antelope, so that when the sun started rising,
I could just shoot. I think it was 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. and
I kind of felt like ‘Well, I’m done for the day!’ You just get really excited when you
know that you got something really special.
